Young and vibrant Lithuanian born violist – has established herself as an internationally renowned musician and winner of various international competitions and major awards. She graduated from her Masters degree at the Royal Academy of Music with distinction under the tuition of Paul Silverthorne and was offered one of only two string places a year on the prestigious Advance diploma course at the same institution.
Ugne has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in various concert venues across Europe and China such as Wigmore Hall, Shanghai Oriental Art Centre, Palacio de Festivales in Cantabria, Kunsthaus in Weiz/Austria, St. Johns Smith Square, Lithuanian National Philharmonic Hall, and Kaunas State Philharmonic Hall. She has recently appeared as a guest conductor and soloist at the International Avanti Festival, Kaunas.
Ugne has been invited as young professional to the Prussia Cove IMS (Thomas Riebl Class) the Mendelssohn on Mull Festival and the Santander Encuentro de Musica y Academia. She has also worked with distinguished soloists including Nobuko Imai, Thomas Riebl, Wolfram Christ, Hartmut Rohde, Jerzy Cosmala, AvriLevitan, Ettore Causa, Helen Callus and others.
Ugne began her studies at the age of six on the violin, inspired by her mother; by the age of sixteen she was fascinated by the deep, rich sound of viola which convinced her to pursue and discover all the secrets of this mysterious and often underestimated instrument at the National M.K. Ciurlionis School of Arts in Vilnius. In 2009 Ugne moved to London, where she successfully continued her career after being awarded full scholarship to study with world-famous professors such as Philip Dukes and Martin Outram at the Royal Academy of Music. Her Bachelor degree, Masters degree and Advance Diploma studies have been fully funded with scholarships by the Royal Academy of Music as well as numerous awards including the Countess of Munster Musical Trust, the Musicians Help UK award, the Solti Foundation and the Marylebone Educational Trust. She is currently a member of the Royal Academy of Music Soloists Ensemble, the Canorum Trio and the award winning Ensemble Mirage. In addition, Ugne has been awarded the International LRAM teaching certificate by the Royal Academy of Music; demonstrating her talent for teaching.
In the past two years she has been actively leading violas in Symphony and Strings orchestras under the baton of Robin Ticciatti, Sir Mark Elder, JesúsLópez-Cobos, Pascal Torterlier; Manson Ensemble with Oliver Knussen, Academy Baroque ensemble with Maggie Faultless. In addition to her viola studies at RAM she has been studying Baroque viola with Annette Isserlis and Orchestral conducting with Paul Brough. She has won competition awards including the; International Dombrovski Competition in Riga,Pavasario Sonata in Vilnius, Francesco Geminiani Competition in Verona, RaimundasKatilius Competition in Lithuania, among many others.Future United Kingdom performances include, soloist debut accompanied by the Royal Academy Sainsbury Ensemble with its leader Clio Gould and recitals with pianist Alexandra Vaduva; events supported by Countess of Munster Recital Scheme.
